What is Fiber? 3 types of textile fiber.

Fiber

Fiber is a natural or synthetic material that is subsequently longer it is wide. A fiber is several hundred times longer then and it is the width.

What is Fiber? Textile fibers types? classification of fiber ? 3 types of textile fiber.

Textile Fiber

The textile fiber used for the production of yarn and fabric is called textile fiber. There are many fibers that look textile fiber but all the fibers are not textile fiber. Textile fiber must have some the essential characteristics e.g

  • Minimum length to insert twist.
  • Strength.
  • Fineness.
  • Pliability or flexibility.
  • Cohesiveness.
  • Rigidity or stiffness.
  • Elongation & Elasticity.
  • Moisture Absorbency etc.
Types of Textile Fiber:

different textile fiber is used in the industry. Some of them we get from a natural source and some of them are man-made, types of textile fiber is given below:

Textile fiber is mainly two types :

  1. Natural fiber.
  2. Man-made fiber.
Natural fiber: The fiber which is got from natural souse like, animal, vegetable, etc. is called natural fiber. there are four types of natural fiber.
  • Vegetable fiber.
  • Animal fiber.
  • Mineral fiber.
  • Metal fiber.
Vegetable fiber: The fiber which is based on arrangements of cellulose or lignin as like:
  • Seed fiber: cotton fiber, kepok, etc.
  • Leaf fiver: sisal, manila.
  • Best fiber: jute,lax,hemp,ramie etc.
Animal fiber: the fiber which comes animal of a source is called animal fiber. there are two types:
  • Hair: wool,mohair,khasmere.
  • secrection: silk.

Mineral fiber: The fiber which is sourced from mineral is called miner fiber. Asbestos.

Metal fiber: The fiber which is sourced from natural but collected as metal as like gold, silver etc.

Man-made fiber: Man-made fiber is made by humans is called man-made fiber. there two types:
  • Synthetic fiber.
  • Regenerated fiber.
Synthetic fiber: Synthetic fiber is made by humans trough the chemical synthesis as opposed to natural fibers that is directly divided from a living organism is called synthetic fiber. it is two types:
  • Organic fiber.
  • Inorganic fiber: Glass fiber, carbon fiber.
Organic fiber is several types of available. there are given below:
  • Polyamide: Nylon, perlon, Nomex.
  • Polyester: Terylene, Dacrcon, Vycron.
  • Thermoplastic: Saron, Acrylic.
  • Hydrocarbons: Rubber, Polyethylene, Polypropylene.
Regenerated fiber: The fiber which is made of composited between natural and man-made fiber is called regenerated fiber. there are three types:
  • Cellulose base: Viscose, Accetate, etc.
  • Protein base: casein.
  • Mineral base: Asbestos.
