Would you know space suit is a garments?

Spacesuit

A space suit is garments that wear astronauts in space. It protects astronauts from danger and extreme weather or harmful environment (up to 248 degrees Fahrenheit to -256 degree Fahrenheit). Russell Colley created the spacesuit worn by mercury project astronauts.

The function of spacesuit:

Astronauts get a lot of help by space suit stand by:-
  1. To protect astronauts from too cold or hot weather.
  2. To protect astronaut's bodies from space dust.
  3. To protect astronaut's eyes from bright sunlight.
  4. To hold water to drink.
  5. To give astronauts oxygen to breath during work in space.
Characteristics of spacesuit:

As a space suit have to have some of the characteristics such as:-

  • Comfortability.
  • Electrical resistant.
  • Skin sensitivity.
  • Flame and burn retardant.
  • Heat resistant.
  • Water & windproof.

Raw material:

As such clothing, cotton fabric has considered as the best reason for comfortability, skin sensitivity, and electrical resistivity. chemical treated cotton fabrics used for the manufacturing of these types of clothing. two-ply fabric use for the clothing. here fabric plies are 244 grams per square yard stain, 153 grams per square yard weft sateen and 187  grams per square yard mercerized knitted single jersey fabric which is chemical treated cotton fabric. these fabrics are flame retardant finished with THPOH/NH3 & DAP/Urea in two types. As a result this fabric shows better flame and burning retardancy.

For making a blanket that wants the two-ply fabric made from glass fiber and tow ply fabric, fibrous silica is used. As the heat resistant clothing needle felt Nomex fabric, ceramic and graphite fiber is a woven fabric. silicon-rubber coated are also used.

The main part of the spacesuit:
  1. Maximum absorption garments(MAG): Collects urine produced by an astronaut.
  2. Liquid cooling & ventilation garments(LCVG): Remove excess body heat from astronauts during space work.
  3. Emu electrical harness(EEH): Provide connection for communicating &
  4. Communication carries assembly(CCA). Carries microphone & headphones for communicating.
  5. Lower torso assembly(LTA): lower half of the EMU including pants, knee, and ankle joint, boots, and lower waits.
  6. Hard upper torso(HUT): hard fiberglass shell that supports much structure including the arms, torso, helmet, life-support backpack and control module.
  7. Extravehicular visor assembly(EVA). Protect astronauts from bright sunlight.
  8. In suit drink bag(IDB). Provides drink water to astronauts.
  9. Secondary oxygen bag(SOB): Provides emergency oxygen supply.
  10. Primary life support sun system(PLSS): Provides oxygen, carbon dioxides removal, power, cooling water, radio equipment & warring system.
  11. Display and control module(DCM): Display and control run PLSS.
